Painted cabinets were a traditional element of Swedish country homes, this one is particularly lovely as it still maintains the original hand-painted finish with faux marble drawer and crown, blue painted panels and a faux wood painted background which was the folk art style of the era.
The monogram and date of 1852 indicate it was likely a wedding present.
Unique to this is the narrow depth of only 18", and the caved/curved feet and skirt.Three interior shelves.
This cupboard has been restored so it is strong, stable and ready for use. All knicks, scratches, age-related separation of wood are a reflection of generations of use and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this lovely cabinet.
