The soft colors are all original on this large hand-painted antique chest of 3 drawers from Hungary.
The brick red/brown finish faux wood background was a traditional style element of the era, while the soft floral motifs may have been added later.
Generations of use are revealed in the distress to the paint, worn down in areas revealing the natural pine wood below. Note stains, discoloration, and cracks along top.
This chest of drawers has been restored, is solid and stable; a wax finish adds a soft luster to the piece. Drawers function with two brass pulls on each.
All scratches, cracks, dings,  and age related separation are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this special hand painted chest.
Note in photos along trim between drawers it appears there was once nailhead trim or something attached leaving behind small marks where the nails were removed.
