An exterior latch holds the doors in place when closed, there is no lock nor key.
This painted two-door armoire has been restored and waxed so it is strong, stable and ready to use. 
Age related wear includes dings, cracks, nicks in wood, scratches (see photos), age related separation to edges/planks (see back), distress etc. while seen throughout the armoire do not detract from the beauty nor function of this wonderful folk-art find.
