This large oil on canvas painting is from Spain, late 1800s by an unknown artist (no signature). It is an original oil painting representing Aesop’s fable of "The Cat and The Fox."  An earlier version (17^th Century) of this painting by Frans Snyders (1579-1657) hangs in the Prado Museum, Madrid. This painting may be considered in the likeness of Snyders but is not a “copy.”
Overall, frame and canvas are in good age related condition with minor surface abrasions (not noticable unless very close to canvas).
Canvas will benefit from a surface cleaning which we leave to the discretion of the buyer.
All scratches, dings, and age related separation (minor seen at frame corners) are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this impressive painting.
