Original green painted dome top oak trunk from Sweden with wrought iron straps and side handles.
Faded monogram and date "1844" indicate this trunk was likely a dowry or wedding present.
Traditional hand-painted red and white details include floral motif along top and front with additional flourishes against a green background. The painted finish shows much distress/wear reflecting over 150 years of use. Please review photos for better understanding of finish/wear.
Wrought iron straps, corners and side handles were painted red. Some of iron straps are raised, bent, etc.
Restored and waxed, this heavy oak trunk is ready to be placed and enjoyed. No key nor lock. This trunk would be impressive at the end of a bed. 
Signs of wear typical for age include nicks, scratches, age related separation of wood along top, multiple cracks(front, sides, top, bottom), etc. This wear does not impact the strength nor functional integrity of the trunk which is ready for use.
