Extraordinary antique Empire secretary desk circa 1810-1820 from Denmark or northern Germany. The cabinet is made in 3 sections and covered in flame mahogany veneer with lighter inlays. Behind the drop front, the interior is fitted with a number of smaller drawers, a small center door and secret compartments. Above the drop front is a narrow horizontal drawer that is actually a pull out leather writing surface. Take time to examine all the photos - the architecture, casework and craftsmanship are exemplary.
