The baroque styling is revealed in the high relief carving of these cathedral chairs. The tall back and sides allowed for privacy, while in this example the two seats are joined together almost as a bench, likely for two afluent family members to share. Age related separation of planks are seen in the upper and middle back section, and while typical for the age these do not impact the strenght/stability of the bench. This solid oak cathedral chair is a wonderful example of early 1800's craftsmanship. This item is being sold in as is, original used condition as we discovered it in Denmark.
