The painted finish is all original on this rustic pine flat top narrow trunk which may also serve as a bench. Flowers were a traditional embellishment as seen on the front of this handcrafted trunk with multi colored flowers contrasting against the red and brown backgrounds. The deep patina of the pine top reflects generations of use, and much wear is seen to the blue panels of the top. The faux wood painted background was also a traditional style motif of the era.
The date of 1921 is seen in the center front painted panel. Long wrought iron hinges.
This trunk rests on raised feet. Note photo of interior that reveals a small box to store smaller personal items.
Restored, strong and stable, this 6' long narrow pine trunk is ready to be used and enjoyed. Wax finish. No lock nor key.
All scratches, cracks (see throughout including top and interior bottom), nicks, dings, stains, dried old wormholes and age related separation are reflective of age and do not detract from the rustic appeal nor function of this trunk. Wear to painted finish seen throughout reflects 100 years of use.
