It is the incredible hand-wrought iron details that make this small dome top trunk an exceptional find. The elaborate iron work indicates this likely served as a lock box or private safe at the time it was commissioned.
The age of this trunk is revealed in the deep, rich patina of the dark oak. While typical age related separation and cracks are seen throughout and especially along the top, in no way does this impact the strength or integrity of the trunk itself. 
A stand was created for the trunk in more recent years, raising it to make a unique accent item. Lid opens with knob, no remaining lock nor key. 
Professionally restored and waxed, this trunk is ready to be placed and enjoyed. All old cracks, nicks, gouges, signs of wear are commensurate with age and do not detract from the function nor beauty of this 200 year-old trunk.
