Early 19th century Swedish Biedermeier mahogany secretary featuring a drop-front desk and three lower drawers. Constructed with mahogany veneer throughout, the drawers retain lionhead key covers and are operated by a single key. The hinged desktop opens to reveal an interior arrangement of multiple small drawers and compartments. Decorative interior details include small finials set against mirrored background positioned above fully turned columns, flanking a central storage cubby. The form is defined by clean, straight lines with a subtle outward taper. The piece has been restored and is structurally strong and stable. Old repaired cracks are present along the top, and the original locks may operate stiffly; the key may be used as a pull if preferred. Age related scratches, nicks, minor losses do not impact the classic elegance nor beauty of this bureau.
