19th century original painted Hungarian cabinet or armoire constructed of pine, featuring an old yellow, black and red painted finish with extensive folk art decoration. Painted floral motifs, striping, and colorful detailing appear throughout, including along the sides, giving this piece strong visual presence and character. Half-column details and carved accents further elevate the exterior design.
The painted surface shows significant age-related wear with distress, scratches, nicks, gouges, and areas of natural wood revealed beneath the paint, all consistent with long-term use. The cabinet doors are paneled with (new) glass in the upper sections, a later addition that allows interior display while maintaining the integrity of the piece. The interior is divided for functional storage.
The left door secures from interior with its original metal latch, while the right door is held in place with a newer interior metal clip. There are no locks or keys. Age-related separation of planks is visible along the back. Old repairs are present and have been stabilized. This cabinet has been restored, is strong, stable, and ready for use.
