Swedish mora grandfather clocks are noted by their graceful curves and classic style as seen in this exceptional long case clock which stands over 7' tall.
The faux wood painted finish is original, and was a traditional style of the era. Note the lovely blend of burnished red, brown, salmon and ocher/cream coloring. The black trim around the clock face adds an attractive contrast to the body.
There is a carved flourish at the top and residual painted flowers faintly seen on the central hinged door (which served to access the pendulum and weights).
This lovely clock likely required the commissioning of 3 professionals; the carpenter, painter and clock professional who designed the clockworks, face and hands.
Any original clock works remaining will be included with the long case but they are not in working condition.
The wood longcase is restored, solid and stable.
Any scratches, cracks, nicks, gouges, dings, or age related separation are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this lovely longcase grandfather clock. Holes in the back are often seen where the original family secured the clock to a wall to create stability for the sensitive (original) clockworks.
