Early 20th Century Black Forest Hand-Carved Elk, Germany

Early 20th-century hand-carved elk sculpture from the Black Forest region, rendered in oak with extraordinary attention to detail. Note the fine texture of the fur, the realistic carving of the base with leaves and rocks, and the lifelike pose. Minor age-related scratches, scuffs, and separations appear where sections were joined together, one nick along back. Old repairs can be seen behind both ears and at the antler mounts. A classic piece of Black Forest folk art showcasing exceptional craftsmanship and timeless alpine charm.
All scratches, cracks, dings, and age related separation are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty of this special find.
