19th-century Danish secretary or "bureau" crafted in mahogany veneer with bowfront cabinet doors and refined proportions. The pull-out desk opens to reveal an elaborate interior fitted with felt-lined writing surface, sliding lid for paper storage, and decorative architectural elements. Interior details include faux windows, faux marble columns, additional column details within the central cubby, and a rustic distressed mirror set at the back.
The large upper central cabinet opens to reveal a black velvet-lined interior. Three upper cabinet doors lock and open with the included single key. The central upper drawer opens using a key as a pull only, while the three lower drawers also open with the key used as a pull; locks no longer function.
The veneer finish throughout the piece is particularly fine. Typical nicks and scratches are present, many of which have been restored. Past restoration is also visible at the feet. Elegant, stately, and visually striking, this secretary has been restored, is strong and stable, and is ready for use.
