19th Century Danish Biedermeier Mahogany Secretary Bureau

19th century Danish Biedermeier-style secretary or "bureau" crafted in mahogany veneer. This short, stately bureau features a hinged desktop that opens to reveal multiple interior drawers and storage compartments, including an applied carved decorative detail along the long, narrow interior drawer. The desktop shows repaired old cracks in the veneer, with additional scratches and small gouges consistent with age. The exterior displays handsome mahogany veneer with expressive grain patterns. Four lower drawers each open with two brass pulls; original locks no longer function and keys remain to be used as pulls only.
Note the upper drawer that intentionally opens at a downward angle, providing a standing writing and paper storage area.
The sides show old cracks, separation, and prior repairs, with minor veneer loss at the upper far right corner that is not visually distracting. Professionally restored, this handsome secretary is strong, stable, and ready for use.
