19th Century Hand Painted Swedish Mora Grandfather Clock

19th-century Swedish Mora grandfather clock crafted in pine with original painted decoration. The background features a traditional brown faux wood-grain finish, while the curved body displays a teal blue field adorned with white and red floral decoration. While the hand-crafted wood longcase dates to the early 1800s, Mora clocks were often repainted over time; the present painted surface is original to the clock, though it may date slightly later.
The clock face and hands are very old and original, framed by carved detailing around both the face and crown that enhances its sculptural presence. Graceful curves define the case, while the lock and key remain functional. The original clockworks no longer function; however, any existing original components, including the pendulum, will be included with shipment. Many buyers choose to install a battery-operated movement for ease of use.
Minor distress to the painted finish, including small nicks, scratches, and age-related joint separation at the base and feet, is consistent with the clock’s age. The wood long case has been restored, is strong and stable, and is ready to place and enjoy as a decorative and architectural focal point.
