There is a graceful country charm to this domed top pine trunk from Sweden. The delightful original red paint remains, along with the cornucopia of flowers embellishing the front and two additional bouquets of flowers on the very top. Notice the monogram and date of 1853, indicating this trunk was likely commissioned as a wedding present for a happy couple starting their life together. In the detailed photos you will see the addtional painted stenciling and hand-wrought iron handles and long hinges, traditional elements of the period. The interior is clean, and to the upper left is a small storage compartment for personal items to "not get lost" within the large trunk. There is an age related separation along the top where the two curved planks join together, which is very common with a domed top of this age and does not impact the function nor strenght of the piece.
