18th-century large chest of four drawers constructed of oak front and pine drawers, typical of the era. Featuring gently curved drawer fronts and a scalloped skirt with applied carved detailing. The chest is crowned with heavy dentil molding along the top and displays canted, carved sides. It rests on tapered, fluted feet that enhance its elegant vertical proportions.
A newer professionally applied layered painted finish presents an overall antique white or light gray appearance with subtle blue undertones, chosen to complement the age, class, and form of the piece. Each drawer opens with two brass pulls; there are no locks or keys.
The chest is constructed in three sections, with the base including the feet and skirt, the lower drawer section, and the upper two-drawer section, allowing for easier transport and installation. Age-related cracks, nicks, and wood separation are visible at the feet, sides, and top, consistent with 18th-century construction. Restored, strong, and stable, this refined chest is ready for use.
