Early 19th-century oak trunk set on a later stand, now serving as a distinctive side table. The trunk features inlaid oak star motifs on both the top and front, complemented by hand-wrought iron corner brackets, side handles, and long iron hinges. The lock and key remain functional.
The interior includes a small compartment originally intended for storing personal or private items. Age-related cracking and separation are visible along the bottom of the trunk, with additional historic cracks and separations along the top, front, and sides that were repaired many years ago, typical of oak furniture from this period.
The stand beneath the trunk appears to have been created at a later date to elevate the piece for use as a side table. It features turned legs connected by a stretcher, adding balance and visual interest.
Restored, strong, and stable, this unique piece combines early oak craftsmanship with later functional adaptation.
