Large 18th-century Danish oak chest of drawers featuring a dramatic rococo serpentine front and substantial proportions. The chest has a newer professionally applied layered black painted finish, lightly distressed to reveal natural oak beneath and suit the aged character of this early piece. It rests on a carved scalloped skirt with curvaceous feet, adding strong visual presence.
Each drawer is fitted with two brass pulls; there are no keys or functioning locks. Drawers run smoothly, and while age-related separation is typical in oak drawer bottoms of this period, they were refurbished at an earlier time to allow for continued ease of use.
Typical signs of age including scratches, gouges, and cracks are visible beneath the painted finish, consistent with an 18th-century chest. Restored, strong, and stable, this striking commode is ready for use and offers both decorative impact and generous storage. Built in three sections for easier transportation and installation.
