19th-century Swedish pine cabinet richly decorated with extensive hand carving throughout. Grape and vine motifs appear across the paneled doors, crown, and central details, with deeply carved surfaces showing the marks of hand tools and resulting organic texture. Panels feature a gold painted background with green leaves and deep purple-red grapes. This may serve as impressive storage as liquor cabinet or for wine, cocktail and glassware.
The cabinet is arranged with two upper doors over two drawers, above two lower cabinet doors. Highly unusual is the hidden storage, available under the crown which opens (see photos). Three keys are included and may be used as pulls; the functionality of the locks cannot be guaranteed. The entire cabinet rests on large carved octagonal bun feet, adding weight and presence. Hand carving continues across the entire surface, creating a striking visual depth.
Restored, strong, and stable, this cabinet is ready for use and stands as a dramatic example of Scandinavian folk craftsmanship. Age related dings, scuffs, scratches are seen throughout and reflect generations of use.
