Late 18th Century Pair of Swedish Red Painted Rococo Pine Side Chairs

Late 18th-century pair of Swedish Rococo pine side chairs retaining an original brick red painted finish that has been gently scraped, allowing areas of natural pine to show through and creating a richly aged surface. The chairs feature classic Rococo form with carved details and claw-and-ball feet.
The seats currently have simple muslin upholstery that has been tacked and stapled in place, making them ready for reupholstery at the buyer’s discretion. Old repairs are visible throughout, including filled cracks and gouges, consistent with the age and long use of the chairs.
Both chairs have been restored, are strong and stable, and are ready for use. The worn painted surface and softened carving reflect generations of use and contribute to the exceptional patina of this matched pair.
