18th-century German secretary or "bureau" crafted from walnut, featuring extensive marquetry. The inlaid decoration continues across the façade, with contrasting lighter woods used on the interior drawers and cabinet doors. The upper cabinet and desktop both retain functioning locks operated by their included keys.
The interior opens to reveal organized storage, while the lower section contains three large traditional drawers, each fitted with two brass pulls. The top drawer shows a small interior hole at the front where a lock was previously positioned. Veneer cracking (much with old restoration) is present throughout, consistent with age and construction, and does not detract from the function or overall presentation. Typical scratches, nicks, and wear are visible.
The secretary is built in sections for easier transportation and installation. Restored, strong, stable, and ready for use, this piece reflects fine European craftsmanship and decorative inlay work.
