Early 19th Century Swedish Gustavian Pine Bench

Early 19th-century Swedish Gustavian bench crafted in pine, retaining remnants of its original painted surface with a scraped, Peach-orange appearance. The worn finish reveals the warm natural pine beneath, contributing to the aged character of the piece.
Carved details are found throughout, including feather-like carvings along the upper back, carved accents along the upper sides and skirt, and turned legs. The bench has been fitted with a newer upholstered seat in a simple linen fabric, which may easily be replaced if desired.
Old gouges are visible along the sides, with typical age-related cracks and scratches throughout. Wear is more pronounced along the feet, and the back reveals expected age-related separation of planks. The bench is restored, strong, stable, and ready for use.
Seat height: 22"
Originally designed so the seat could raised and lower section pulled out, creating a daybed-like form, this piece today is best suited as a bench or settee.
