Late 18th Century Original Painted Swedish Grandfather Clock

Late 18th-century Swedish grandfather clock crafted in pine with original painted decoration in blue, teal, red, and white. The clock features a curved bonnet that frames a dramatic clock face, with decorative detailing and original styling visible in the face and hands. Above the face is a circular painted disc dated 1786, decorated with a crown and vine motif. The central door above is painted and dated 1789. A painted name is present on the lower cabinet section.
The exterior shows heavy age-related distress with a rich patina consistent with its age, including typical cracks, scratches, and gouges. Along the side of the lower section there is visible age-related separation that was repaired at an earlier point in time.
The long case has been restored and remains strong and stable. The original clockworks no longer function. Many buyers choose to install a battery-operated mechanism for ease of use; this is left to the buyer’s discretion.
