Late 18th Century Original Hand-Painted Swedish Cabinet Armoire, Dated 1790

Late 18th-century Swedish pine cabinet retaining its original hand-painted decoration, dated 1790. The painted surface features florish motifs in soft blues and grays, characteristic of northern Sweden and often associated with the Dalarna region. The traditional upper crown displays a painted name and the date of 1790. Two lower drawers are concealed and only accessible when the cabinet doors are opened. There is no functioning lock or key; the left door secures with an interior latch while the right door rests in place, with slight sagging consistent with age.
The interior has a newer white painted finish that has been distressed to reveal the pine beneath. Inside are three standard shelves and an upper half shelf with notches, originally intended for the display of family silver. Scratches, cracks, and age-related separation are visible throughout, particularly along the back and crown. Restored strong, stable, and ready for use, this cabinet is a beautiful and authentic example of Swedish country craftsmanship.
