Dated 1830, this 19th-century pine trunk retains its original hand-painted folk art finish. The exterior features a soft blue painted background with traditional floral motifs centered within them, each framed by carved detailing that adds depth and craftsmanship to the overall design. The flat top has worn naturally down to exposed pine, creating a warm, deeply aged patina from generations of use.
Age-related wear is present throughout, including horizontal separation of planks along the top, cracks, nicks, gouges, exposed old staples, and evidence of dried wormhole activity consistent with the period. Original wrought iron side handles and hinges remain intact. The interior also shows age-related wear, including cracks, gouges, and old wormhole activity, and both interior and exterior have been finished with a natural wax that enhances the surface while preserving authenticity.
