Early 19th century Swedish sideboard constructed of pine and retaining its original hand painted finish, dated 1808. The surface presents a very soft green background with blue undertones, complemented by delicately painted floral motifs on the two front door panels in muted shades of burgundy, red, cream, and green. The case rests on two front bun feet and displays large dovetail joinery along the top, highlighting traditional Swedish craftsmanship. Age-related cracks, scratches, gouges, and areas of old dried wormhole activity are visible throughout, consistent with a piece of this age. The back shows vertical separation of planks, typical of early pine furniture. The lower skirt shows an old gouge that has been softened and sanded in the restoration process. The sideboard has been restored, is strong, stable, and ready for use, and has been finished with wax to provide a soft luster to the painted surface.
