Original painted Danish dome top trunk dated 1862, crafted in pine. The trunk features simple lines with a curved dome lid and retains its original painted finish in brick red with white or cream decorative details.
The front includes a painted name and the date 1862, suggesting the trunk may have been a wedding or dowry present.
Original wrought iron side handles and hinges remain in place. The original lock and key are present and still function. Large dovetail joinery is visible in the construction.
Typical age-related separation of planks is visible along the top/front/sides, along with cracks, nicks, and minor separation across the sides and front. Corners show worn distress from years of use. The painted finish is worn in areas revealing the natural pine wood beneath. Older repairs are visible at the back hinges.The visual remains of old dried wormholes are present.
The trunk has been restored, cleaned, and waxed, and is solid/stable and ready for use.
