Early 19th Century Swedish Gustavian Pine Bench Settee

Early 19th century Swedish Gustavian bench or settee crafted in pine. The top rail features egg-and-dart molding and is crowned with four carved finials. The upper back is decorated with a carved central accent panel featuring two griffins.
Additional carving appears along the skirt with floral medallions. The bench rests on turned, fluted, tapered feet. Floral medallions are present toward the front of the skirt but not along the back edge.
The bench retains its original painted finish, appearing primarily gray with subtle undertones of pale green and blue. The finish has been gently scraped and distressed, revealing areas of natural wood and creating a soft aged character.
The seat, back and sides have been newly upholstered in simple linen. Cracks, scuffs, and distress to the finish seen throughout but do not impact function.
This bench has been restored and is strong, stable, and ready for use. It is not freestanding and was designed to be placed against a wall.
