19th century Swedish Gustavian bench crafted in pine. Decorative hand-carved Greek key meander detailing runs along the skirt, turned finials create the sides and back, adding sculptural detail to the form. The bench retains its original gray painted finish, which has been lightly scraped to reveal areas of natural wood beneath and create a soft aged character.
The seat includes one long bench cushion and three back cushions upholstered in faded vintage teal blue and green fabric. Buyer will likely wish to either re-upholster or create a new seat cushion. Bolsters included. A prior owner added fabric along the lower back section, allowing the bench to function as a freestanding piece when upholstered in this manner.
Typical cracks, nicks, and minor age-related separation are visible throughout, reflecting years of use. This Swedish settee has been restored and is strong, stable, and ready for use.
