Late 18th century Swedish two-door armoire crafted in oak. The upper section is crowned with a carved putti face and wings at the center.
Elaborate leaf and vine carvings decorate the two panel doors. Below, a narrow drawer is flanked by two carved lion heads. The cabinet stands on four large bun feet.
A professionally applied layered black painted finish has been added, lightly distressed and rubbed through to reveal natural wood beneath that enhances the carved details.
The original lock and key still function. Doors open on long wrought iron hinges. The interior is painted a newer soft blue and includes three full shelves along with a fourth half shelf with notches originally used for displaying family silver.
Typical age-related separation of planks and cracks are visible along the back. The drawer shows minor separation and staining. Minor cracks, scratches, gouges, and wear are visible throughout. The back shows old dried (inactive) wormhole activity.
The armoire has been restored and is strong, stable, and ready for use.
