Late 19th-century 8' tall Swedish oak bureau or secretary featuring a newer professionally applied black layered painted finish, lightly distressed to reveal natural oak beneath and suit the age of the piece. The interior is painted a contrasting pale blue. The desktop opens on hinges and rests on extending arms. Interior reveals petite drawers and cubbies for storage and organization.
The lower section features three large Rococo-style curved drawers, each fitted with two attractive brass pulls. Drawer bottoms show typical stains and age-related separation/cracks which also have some old repairs (wood "seams" to close separation).
Typical age-related cracks (back, shelves, etc), nicks, old dried wormholes and separation are present throughout from generations of use. See back and signs of old repairs.
Locks and keys work stiffly and inconsistently. We recommend keys used as a pulls only. Restored strong, stable, and ready for use.
