Early 19th century Swedish wedding cabinet crafted in pine. The cabinet retains its original hand painted finish in traditional Swedish folk art style, featuring a faux wood background. The upper doors display floral bouquet decoration, while the lower doors feature painted diamond panels. Colors include green, teal, blue, and touches of red and white.
Built in three sections—crown, upper cabinet, and lower cabinet—joined with interior hook and loop fixtures.
The cabinet rests on bun feet at the front and block feet at the back and is topped with a traditional Swedish bonnet/crown.
The upper cabinet opens to reveal two main shelves, one incorporating three drawers. An upper half shelf is notched, originally used for displaying family silver spoons. The interior is painted in a distressed whitewashed finish.
The original key and lock function, though somewhat stiff, particularly at the lower cabinet. Buyer may opt to use key as pull only.
Age-related cracks and separation are visible throughout, especially along the two left panel doors. Additional nicks, scratches, and abrasions are present, particularly along the skirt and corners. Signs of old dried wormholes are also visible(very old, not active).
The cabinet has been restored and is strong, stable, and ready to use.
