19th century black painted Swedish large square coffee table, crafted in oak. While the black paint is old, it is likely not original to the age of the table. The base is a dramatic pedestal form, curved and raised on four carved feet, giving the table a bold and highly functional silhouette. This table was likely cut down at some point in time, and signs along the top edges suggest it may once have been able to adapt with leaves. It creates a large square coffee table form not typical to earlier years. Please take a close look at the top in photos. Two rounded cracks were touched up at some point in time. Distress to the painted finish reveals natural wood below, adding dimension and character. Restored strong, stable, and ready to use. Scratches, nicks, and cracks reflect generations of use.
