Early 18th century Portuguese large console or island, crafted in chestnut. The table features large drawers with iron rings as pulls, decorative turned legs, and a trestle base with iron accents at leg joints. Its generous scale makes it conducive for use as a handsome center table or even a kitchen island. The form is freestanding with three drawers on each side, adding both function and flexibility. Restored, strong, stable, and ready for use. The top reveals old age related separations that were filled and repaired. Scratches, nicks, dings, and staining reflect many generations of use, and similar wear is repeated along the base without detracting from the strength or usefulness of the piece.
