Late 19th century blanket chest of three drawers from Hungary, crafted in pine and retaining its original hand painted surface. The chest is decorated in a typical Eastern European folk art palette of blue, red, green vines, and white and red floral patterns, with a high level of painted embellishment throughout. The three large drawers are flanked by turned half column details, adding further character to the front. Restored strong, stable, and ready to use. Drawers function. Typical age related separation is seen along the sides and top and appears as long cracks. Minor nicks and scratches are seen throughout but do not detract from the fun appeal of this whimsical large chest.
