19th century Italian monastery table, crafted in walnut with a beautiful aged patina. The table features a dramatic carved trestle base with a central shield and medallion, along with boldly carved legs incorporating dragon and phoenix motifs that rest on large lion’s feet. Additional carving continues around the table top edge and along the small skirt, giving the piece strong decorative presence from every angle. Floor to skirt height is 27.35 inches, allowing this table to work well as a dining table or an impressive writing table. The walnut shows wonderful age and warmth throughout. Please note separation of the planks that form the top, along with minor nicks, scratches, scuffs, and stains seen throughout, all consistent with age and use but not impacting function. Strong, stable, and ready to use. A very impressive piece with bold scale and presence.
