Original Italian oil on canvas laid on canvas. Large framed 6.5' wide still life of game. Signed with monogram BDC f.
Artist: Baldassarre De Caro (Naples, 1689- 1750), was an Italian painter specializing in still life, mainly known for hunted game, but also of flowers.
This original painting is impressive in size and detail. Due to age, canvas has been mounted on 2nd canvas for support; re-touches seen throughout. Note in particular around frame edge where canvas received more wear. Note that what appears as small white scuffs in photos (in particular the right side) is surface dirt that easily comes off by wiping, but we still encourage a professional cleaning which we leave to the discretion of the buyer.
Frame shows wear and distress, age-related separation at corners, minor losses (see left vertical part of frame), nicks and scratches down to the plaster below, etc.
Stable and ready to hang.
