Late 18th Century Original Painted Pair of Swedish Baroque Narrow Cabinets

Late 18th century pair of Swedish narrow cabinets, crafted in pine and retaining their original hand painted finish. Carved Baroque panels accent the doors, and it is increasingly rare to find a matched pair with this kind of age and decorative presence. The original painted surface features a blue background with highlights in orange (may have originally been red), sage green, and white, while the crown and central panel show a traditional faux marble motif. Each cabinet is raised on turned bun feet in the front with block feet in the back, typical of the period. Old locks and keys still function. The doors open to reveal three standard interior shelves and an upper half shelf. The interiors are painted in a contrasting green gray tone. These cabinets are very old and show typical age related separation and cracks, particularly along the back, along with minor nicks and additional wear consistent with generations of use. The painted finish shows expected distress, especially around the key areas and where the doors would be touched to open. Restored strong, stable, and ready to use. This pair is a rare and beautiful example of Swedish country craftsmanship.
