Early 19th century tall Swedish grandfather clock, crafted in pine. The (old but not original) blue painted finish has been scraped and worn to reveal much of the natural pine below, creating a soft aged appearance with substantial character.
Turned columns flank the clock face and are accented with brass details at the top and bottom. The elaborate face displays each month of the year and is further decorated with additional brass filigree. Three turned finials rise above the crown and complete the stately 8' longcase form.
Small holes are visible along the back, as clocks of this type were often secured to the wall for stability. Typical cracks, age related separation of the wood, scratches, and nicks along the edges are present throughout but do not detract from the tall architectural appearance. An old repair is visible beneath the right column, along with a small missing edge and separation at the same corner.
The pine longcase has been restored and is stable and ready to use. The original clockworks are included but do not function. A buyer may choose to have the works professionally restored (we cannot guaratee if they will function or not) or install a battery operated movement at their discretion.
