Late 18th century large Swedish wedding cabinet, crafted in pine. A curved bonnet crown and carved paneled doors create the strong silhouette of this classic Swedish form. The upper cabinet with two large doors rests above a lower section with two long drawers, giving the piece both presence and useful storage. The upper cabinet opens with a key to reveal three standard shelves and an upper curved notched shelf that was originally used to display family silver spoons and serving utensils. The lower drawers unlock with a key and open using brass pulls. The drawer interiors remain natural pine and show some staining and minor cracks. The entire cabinet has been given a professionally applied layered blue painted finish, lightly distressed to suit the age and grace of the piece, while the upper interior is painted in a contrasting gray. Restored strong, stable, and ready to use. Built in sections for easier transportation and installation. The back shows old repairs.
