Pair of 19th Century Painted and Embossed Leather Armchairs

Pair of 19th century hand painted and embossed leather armchairs. Crafted in oak, these Rococo style armchairs feature barley twist legs and stretcher base, with shaped arms that give the pair a strong and decorative silhouette. The embossed leather still retains hand painted highlights along the backs in pale blue gray flowers with touches of white and residual green, adding aged color and character. The seats show expected wear, with much of the paint and embossing now faint from years of use. The vintage leather also shows small tears, primarily in one seat, along with distress, scuffs, stains, crackling, and additional tears elsewhere, including to the back skirt. Large nail head trim accents the leather and completes the look. Very handsome pair with tremendous character. Wood frames are solid, stable, and ready for use.
