19th century Swedish bench, crafted in pine and retaining its original painted finish. The paint presents in brown tones with carving accented in a greenish gold color, giving the piece a warm and decorative look. Finials top the four corners, while decorative open carved latticework in the shape of curved X forms the open back and sides. Additional carved detail adorns the top, side rails, and back, and the carving continues along the skirt below. The bench rests on turned fluted feet, adding to its graceful Gustavian character. Some nicks to the feet and edges, along with typical age related scratches, minor cracks, and wear, all reflect years of use. One finial is missing from the topmost section. Restored strong, stable, and ready for use. The bench seat currently has old vintage damask fabric showing wear, and we suggest the buyer reupholster in the fabric of their choosing.
