Pair of 20th Century Swedish Gray Painted Gustavian Armchairs

Pair of 20th century Swedish Gustavian-style armchairs with carved wood frames and older salmon/pink patterned upholstery. Carved details are found throughout the arms, backs, and skirts, while turned feet complete the graceful Scandinavian form.

The thicker gray painted finish is characteristic of applications from approximately the 1930s-1940s. Select details along the legs are highlighted with bronzed gold accents, adding subtle contrast to the gray surface.

Old cracks and repairs are visible, including a repair to the front right spindle of one chair. Age related separation, nicks, cracks and other signs of wear are present throughout, including along the feet. The chairs sit low, snug, and comfortable. The older upholstery shows wear and staining, and reupholstery may be preferred at the buyer's discretion.

Restored, stable, and ready to use. Seat Height: 17.5"
