18th Century Danish Black Painted Oak Rococo Secretary Bureau

18th century Danish secretary, crafted in oak. Hand carved panels decorate the two upper cabinet doors, while graceful Rococo curves accent the three large lower drawers. A newer professionally applied layered black painted finish is lightly distressed throughout, revealing areas of the natural oak below and complementing the rich patina of the aged wood.
The fall front opens onto extending support arms to create a functional writing surface. The fitted desk interior is painted in a contrasting blue finish with white and seafoam undertones. Six small drawers and a central storage compartment with two small doors provide organized interior storage.
The upper cabinet opens using an old functional lock and key and reveals divided interior shelving. Two additional keys are included but are used only as pulls for the fall front and the small interior cabinet. Age related separation and old repairs are visible along the back. Typical cracks, scratches, nicks, and wear are present throughout but do not detract from the function of this Danish oak bureau.
