The soft earth tone colors are all original on this hand-painted antique chest of 3 drawers from Hungary.
The lovely panels with hand painted floral accents were a traditional folk art design of the era set against a brown faux wood finish, adding a cheerful feel to this chest. Generations of use are revealed in the distress age-related separation of wood (top and both sides) which will appear as long cracks, additional scratches, gouges, nicks, and distress to the painted finish all reflect typical wear for its age. Signs of old, dried wormholes that are no longer active.
This large pine chest of drawers has been restored; a wax finish adds a soft luster to the piece, and the three drawers function with two wood pulls each.
This blanket chest is solid, stable and functional, including drawers.
All scratches, cracks, dings, old repairs (see drawer photo), and age related separation are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this special hand painted chest.
