Early 19th century Swedish chest of five drawers, crafted in pine and retaining its original hand painted finish. Much of the painted surface along the front has worn down to reveal the natural pine below. The original paint is better seen along the sides; areas of the original faux wood finish remain visible along the sides in warm burnt red tones. The top is painted in a contrasting light ocher color with teal blue simple decorative accents.

The chest has a traditional configuration of two short drawers above three long drawers, providing useful storage within a balanced country form. Keys are present in the two upper drawers but are used as pulls only, as the locks no longer function. The interior drawer bottoms show age related wear and minor cracking, but these do not affect function. Nicks and gouges are visible along the top and elsewhere, with scratches and additional age related distress throughout. Separation between the planks is visible along the back. Restored, stable, and ready to use.
