Late 18th century Swedish wedding cabinet, crafted in pine with a newer professionally applied layered gray painted finish. Antique white undertones show through the lightly distressed surface, with areas of natural wood revealed beneath to create additional depth and character.
Two large upper cabinet doors are positioned above four lower drawers, while graceful cabriole feet support the substantial form. The upper doors open with the functioning lock and included key to reveal three standard shelves and an additional curved, notched upper shelf. This distinctive notched upper shelf was traditionally designed for displaying family silver spoons and serving utensils.
The lower drawers provide additional storage. The two long drawers are each fitted with two brass pulls, while the keys for the lower drawers should be used as pulls only. Staining is visible along the interior drawer bottoms.
Age related separation is visible along the back and along the upper crown but is not readily noticeable. Scratches, scuffs, cracks, nicks, and other signs of wear are present throughout and are consistent with the age of the cabinet. Restored, strong, stable, and ready to use.
