19th century rustic baker's table, crafted in a combination of oak and pine and now well suited for use as a coffee table. Originally designed as a working baker's table, the piece combines one functional drawer with concealed storage beneath the tabletop.
The top is not fixed and slides in both direction to reveal the hidden storage compartment below, measuring approximately 21 1/2 inches wide by 29 inches deep by 4 inches high. This practical construction offers useful concealed storage while preserving the straightforward character of the original work table.
Much of the appeal comes from the deeply aged and rustic tabletop. Scratches, gouges, cracks, dings, and old repairs are visible throughout, along with age related separation between some of the planks and one larger crack. A deep, rich patina reflects generations of use and gives the table tremendous character.
Restored, strong, stable and ready for use.
